Eighth grade American history is a introduction to our nation's history from the beginning of European exploration of the America's through the Reconstruction period after the Civil War. There is emphasis throughout the year on the American Revolution, Westward Expansion, Industrial Revolution, and the Civil War.
THe students will: 1) analyze how major events are chronologically connected and evaluate their impact on one another 2. analyze and evaluate the impact of people, events, ideas and symbols upon history using multiple sources 3) analyze and evaluate historical events from multiple perspectives 4) identify and evaluate the causes and effects of past, current, issues and problems 5) develop historical research skills
